We pick up refrigerators and freezers anywhere in North Vancouver for $75 curbside or $95 from inside your home — the same price as any full-size appliance, with all labour, refrigerant handling, and recycling fees included and 5% GST the only addition. Compact units (mini fridges, wine coolers) are $65/$80. A second appliance in the same visit — the stove going with the fridge — adds just $45. West Vancouver adds a flat $40 travel fee once per visit ($115 curbside / $135 in-home for a fridge, details). Apartment and condo suite pickups add 20% to the in-home price — or roll it to the loading bay and pay curbside. We are unable to take Commercial units — glass-door coolers, restaurant equipment.
Before We Arrive: The Three-Minute Fridge Prep
Empty it completely. We haul appliances, not groceries — food and liquids can't come with us, so the fridge needs to be bare shelves when we arrive.
If it's waiting at the curb: tie the doors shut or strap them closed. An unattended fridge with working doors is a genuine hazard for small kids — it's the one piece of junk with a safety rule attached, and we'd rather you hear it from us twice than not at all.
The Most Recyclable Thing We Haul
Here's the part that surprises people: an old fridge is almost the opposite of an old couch. A worn-out couch is mostly unrecyclable; a fridge is mostly metal — but it can't just be scrapped, because the refrigerant sealed inside must be professionally recovered first. That's the step that makes proper appliance disposal matter: the refrigerant is captured rather than vented, the compressor and steel body go to metal recycling, and very little of the appliance ends up as waste. When we quote $75, the refrigerant handling and recycling are already in the number — there's no "freon fee" at the door, here or ever.
And a word for the beer fridge that's hummed in the garage since the 1990s: old second fridges are quiet hydro hogs, often costing real money every year to keep a six-pack cold. Retiring it is one of the rare junk-removal jobs that partly pays for itself.
Cheaper Ways to Do This (We'll Tell You Anyway)
Buying a new appliance? Ask the retailer about haul-away before you buy — many will take the old unit on delivery day, sometimes free, sometimes for a fee. When it's free, take it; it's the best deal in this entire category.
Have a truck and a strong friend? The honest math is the usual one: a fridge weighs 100–150 kilos, doesn't do stairs willingly, and needs a dolly, a truck, and two people. If you have all three, DIY is real; if you'd rent any of them, $75 wins.
